CBD Oil vs. Hemp Oil

CBD Oil vs. Hemp Oil

CBD Oil vs. Hemp Seed Oil: They are Different

CBD is everywhere: the news, YouTube, radio stations, your local grocery store, & even your friends are asking you why you haven’t tried CBD yet! Your mom is even calling you exclaiming, “This CBD stuff works, everyone is doing it, and even my dogs can take it!” You finally give in and try researching CBD on the internet. There are thousands of brands, flavors, strengths, and oil bases that you don’t even know where to start! What’s the difference between hemp oil and CBD oil? Aren’t they the same thing?

With the explosion in popularity regarding CBD and the benefits it seems to give each individual, it can be confusing to navigate the market when you’re a novice to the industry. There are so many different ‘oils’ on the internet, that many people end up buying something falsely advertised as CBD, or think it’s CBD just because it contains hemp oil. A common misconception is that hemp oil and ‘CBD Oil’ are the same, they aren’t.   Differentiating between oils is one of the most common issues consumers face when buying blindly off the internet.

Hemp Seed Oil

Hemp seed is simply just plain oil, (much like olive oil) & contains trace amounts of CBD & 0% THC. Hemp Oil is usually used for skin care, cooking, or general wellness, like coconut oil, and still has some benefits to taking as a daily supplement.

CBD Oil

CBD Oils are oils, of any base (Coconut oil, Grapeseed Oil, Hempseed Oil, MCT oil, etc.), infused with CBD and possibly other phytocannabinoids. A full-spectrum CBD oil contains CBD and other cannabinoids like CBG, CBV, & CBN. According to the 2018 Farm Bill was signed into law. It removed hemp, defined as cannabis (Cannabis sativa L.) and derivatives of cannabis with extremely low concentrations of the psychoactive compound delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) (no more than 0.3 percent THC on a dry weight basis), from the definition of marijuana in the Controlled Substances Act (CSA).

Misinformation on Hemp Seed Oil and CBD

Most of the time, Hempseed Oil products are mismarked and claim to provide therapeutic benefits of CBD, without actually containing any CBD or cannabinoids in general.

Since the Hemp CBD industry really took off in 2018, there have been thousands of companies flooding the market with products.  Most of the brands seen on Amazon and other retailers online are simply selling Hempseed oil, with claims similar to that of Hemp-derived CBD oils.

What’s important to realize is that there ARE many companies in this industry with money on their mind, not with the intention of helping people live more fulfilling lives.

Why CBD is the Best Choice

The oil that contains CBD, and other cannabinoids, is called a phytocannabinoid-rich oil. PCR Oils can also be known as CBD oils, full-spectrum hemp oil CBD, & hemp-derived CBD, but CBD oil should not be confused with oil that comes from the seeds of the hemp plant (hempseed oil). CBD is a lipid (fat) soluble. CBD and other cannabinoids are a part of the whole hemp plant that is carefully extracted and is typically suspended (infused) in an oil base, such as hemp seed oil or MCT oil.

Oils like hemp seed oil, coconut oil, and olive oil are generally used as cooking oil or a daily wellness & beauty regimen for many people, but CBD oils contain cannabinoids that are rich in antioxidants & provide the therapeutic benefits we have all come to know and love! The high-quality, hemp-derived CBD oil in all our products is what makes Cannafyl such a great choice.

CBD is One of Over 100 Different Cannabinoids

CBD is one of the cannabinoids naturally produced by the Hemp & Cannabis plants. CBD is also known as a “phytocannabinoid”, due to the fact that it originates & is produced in the hemp plant. The CBD molecule interacts with the bodies naturally occurring Endocannabinoid System (ECS) to help regulate the body’s metabolism, pain, appetite, thermoregulation, stress, muscle recovery, and much more. The ‘Endo-‘ in endocannabinoid actually means inside the body, so this means that our bodies even produce cannabinoids by themselves (like breast milk)!

The ECS consists of neural pathways throughout the body with CB1 & CB2 receptors throughout the body that helps the process of homeostasis, or balance. CB1 receptors have been shown to help regulate cardiovascular health, digestion, pregnancy, & hormone production, while CB2 receptors are more geared towards immunity responses within the body.

CBD interacts with these receptors by modifying the receptor’s ability to bind to other cannabinoids. The process of modification helps the body build up levels of endocannabinoids based on the demands and needs of the individual’s body. This releases neurotransmitter messages needed to reach optimal health in your cells, tissues, and organs. A well-running ECS is one that has an optimal level of homeostasis, or regulation, within the body.

By knowing the process of the Endocannabinoid system naturally found in our bodies, we can further look into what products would be best for our needs and preferences. When it comes to navigating the CBD market, look for hemp oil CBD, not hemp oils.  Plain hemp oil from your internet retailer will not satisfy you the same way a cannabinoid-rich product will.
